  • 1 Horse
    • Arrival in Yasuki Yashiki.
    • Kansen driveen out of Yoshiko by Masu's rising sun tattoo Yoshiko's strength of will. Kansen attacks Masu but he resists. Koshiro flees the light of the tattoo with Katsumoto's aid. Katsumoto breaks Akodo Katai's yari. Kansen curses Masu with insomnia.
  • 2 Horse
    • Katsumoto purchases burnt yari from Yasuki merchant (it saw service during the shogun's taking of Yasuki Yashiki) and presents it to Akodo Katai to replace the one broken.
    • Koshiro purchases a 3 week supply of Jade Tea from Hida Isamu and gives some to Katsumoto.
    • The group meet with Kuni Torazo who expresses interest in Masu's rising sun tattoo.
    • Yoshiko sends a message to her sensei.
    • Yoshiko receives an invitation to a Kabuki performance.
  • 3 Horse
    • Finding a gift for the Shogun:
      • Shogi board, wooden, crafted by a heimen carpenter, worth approx. 1.5 koku
      • Shogun shogi pieces, metal, crafted by a heimen caster, worth approx. 2.5 koku
      • Unicorn shogi pieces, stone, crafted by Yasuki Nomi's son, Kisho (Koshiro begged for her aid, she agreed to help a fellow crab, her husband is away)
    • Group attends kabuki show and meets Asahina Aki.
      • Yasuki Kei plays Asahina in the show. Afterwards Katsumoto gives him friendly lessons on dueling stances.
  • 4 Horse
    • Masu still unable to sleep. Get's reiki from a monk named Bakin.
    • Yoshiko goes to Benten's shrine and attempts to remember her grandfather.
    • Katsumoto starts taking Jade Tea.
  • 5 Horse
    • Katsumoto wins the Shogun's duelling contest after defeating Naburo in the semi-final. Naburo's face has altered. Katsumoto's prize is a finely crafted map of Rokugan.
    • Masu injures an opponent during wrestling contest.
    • Aki shows off her speed in the obstacle course and kenjutsu challenge.
    • Aki is accosted by drunken ronin during the evenings celebration. The ronin are driven off by harsh words from Katsumoto and the others.
  • 6 Horse
    • The parts of the Shogun's gift are collected from the artisans:
      • The board is normal quality (causing the carpenter much distress).
      • The Shogun pieces are fine quality (cast metal with nice decorations and small extra touches)
      • The Unicorn pieces are excellent quality, but emphasise the trading and commercial aspects of the Unicorn clan (make by Yasuki Kisho, Nomi's son)
    • Yasuki Nomi asks a favour:
      • Kushi is harassed by Fumio and Gepachi (the pre-gempukku son's of the wealthy and influential Yasuki Toshio). Party agree to train Kisho while they can (Koshiro makes a good impression while Katsumoto struggles to get across the Kakita philosophy; Koshiro buys Kisho both an ironshod and an unshod bo for 7 and 3 bu respectively)
    • Meeting with the Shogun:
      • Meeting takes place inside a maze in the gardens of Kyuden Yasuki in the early evening. Numerous well armed gardeners tend the surrounding gardens.
      • Shogun discusses Yoshiko's ancestry with her. She casts a vision spell to show the Shogun her grandfather.
      • Shogun asks the group to seek the lost final volume of the prophecies of Asahina Kamataru, which reportly speaks of how someone of the Toturi line will defeat Iuchiban. Shogun promises to provide new information if they accept.
      • The Shogun stresses the imporance of keeping the mission secret, especially from his own people.
      • It is decided that the group will first travel to Kyuden Asahina to seek permission from their lords and families and to read what the Asahina have of Katamaru's prophecies.
  • 7-8 Horse
    • Kisho receives more training.
    • Yoshiko vists the local poor house often to offer healing.
  • 9 Horse
    • This is the dark night at the end of the Chrysanthenum Festival.
    • Koshiro is haunted by the ghost of his father while spending the night at Yasuki Nomi's.
    • Yoshiko falls for the pranks of trickster spirits at the poor house. Coins she flips turn up heads all night.
    • Katsumoto is plagued by evil spirits from Jigoku but drives them off with the help of Aki and Masu.
    • The Shi-Tien-Yen-Wang delivers Tadashi at the height off the storm. Katsumoto, Masu and Aki bring him inside.
  • 10 Horse
    • Preparations are made to leave for Kyuden Asahina.
    • Tadashi received new equipment.
    • Late in the evening the group leaves for the port city near Yasuki Yashiki. Arriving after dark they have dinner upstairs at a rowdy tavern.
    • Passage is booked aboard the Tetsubo, which is picking up saki from the Friendly Traveller Inn. The vessels captain is Yasuki Denbe.
  • 11 Horse
    • Tadashi decides to take on a ronin persona for the trip and go by the name of Terao.
    • Dinner aboard the Tetsubo. Tadashi tells the tale of his quest disguised as an epic story. Yoshiko and Katsumoto realise he is speaking of himself.
  • 13 Horse
    • In the afternoon the Tetsubo arrives at Ryokosha Mira where they take rooms at The House of the Earthquake Fish (once a Hida household, now fallen on hard times after the death of their lord).
    • Yoshiko, Katsumoto and Koshiro pay their respects to the magistrate of Ryokosha, Yasuki Ryoko, and present some incense as a gift.
    • Koshiro forgets to contact the local Jade Tea merchant as he renews his acquaintance with the charming Yasuki Tara, daughter of the owner of the Friendly Traveller Inn, over dinner.
  • 16 Horse
    • Group meets Bayushi Chika, Naburo and Seki around a campfire.
  • 20 Horse
    • Arrival at the Temple of Jurojin.
    • It is revealed that a Doji's Tear has been donated to the temple.
    • Attacked by foul water otters attracted to the temple by the Tear. Katsumoto badly injured. While trying to aid Katsumoto, Tadashi relapses into a meido-enduced coma.
  • 21 Horse
    • Depart from the temple for Shinden Asahina in the company of the ronin Bokkai and an acolyte monk. The group has been tasked with delivering the Tear safely to the monks of Jurojin at the Asahina family palace.
  • 23 Horse
    • Stalked by man-sized tainted spider.
    • While camped at night they are approached by four peasant who claim to be fleeing from the beast.
    • During the next day, Katsumoto discovers an ancient broken Kakita blade.
    • In the night, while camped above a seaside cave, the spider oni attacks and takes the Kakita blade, believing it to be the tear. Koshiro leaps off the cliff in pursuit and breaks a leg. Masu burns the spider with fire as it flees into the cave. Katsumoto and Koshiro are slightly burnt as flames fill the cavern but eventually the spider is killed and the broken blade retrieved.
  • 28 Horse
    • Arrival at Shinden Asahina.
    • Tear delivered safely to the Temple of Jurojin there.
    • Katsumoto has a run in with Asahina Hogai while he is tutoring the Asahina Battle School. Katsumoto makes a very bad impression.
    • There is slight tension as the characters discover that weapons are not allowed inside the main temple at Shinden Asahina. Tadashi opts to wait outside rather than relinquish his bow.
    • Katsumoto meets Matsu Tsuneari (rank 2 bushi; Matsu Hoyuri's cousin).
