Bnach-TarssskiSummaryBnach-Tarssski is a spy, diplomat and all-round survivor from the Tribe. He is something of a runt by Lizard standards, but makes up for this by talking fast and being deviously tricky. General backgroundBnach-Tarssski was the smallest and weakest of his nestmates, but made up for it by being the craftiest. He survived his early years by stealing what he couldn't fight for and setting his larger sibs against each other whenever their attention was drawn to him. During his adolescence, he managed to avoid most physical confrontations with a combination of guile, stealth and running away. When this was impractical, he put considerable effort into preparing for the encounter and utilised unorthodox methods that skirted the borders of legality, but were always at least somewhat honourable. Thus, he gained a reputation as a competent, if unorthodox, combatant and an entity not to be trifled with. He never ascended the ranks of formal military hierarchy, but was frequently contracted as a black ops consultant and freelance diplomat. He made powerful friends, but also powerful enemies. He has learned Imperial Standard the long way, but picked up hypno-bundles for several of the more prevalent regional languages. Recent historyIn his thirty first year of life, he was challenged to a duel by a regional potentate and was unable to talk his way out of it. The terms of the duel were particularly unfavourable to his style of combat, but he managed to subdue his opponent using a poisoned weapon. Unfortunately, the challenger had a hitherto unsuspected allergy to a component of the non-lethal poison which caused his death within moments. Having thus broken the rules of the duel, he was sentenced to death by the potentate's deputies and narrowly escaped with his skin intact. A self-imposed exile in the Empire seemed warranted at this juncture. He spent the next few years wandering around the Empire doing pretty much what he'd been doing in Tribe space, albeit with fewer contacts and rather more jobs on the far side of the law. He soon learned the myriad little tricks for surviving in Human culture and became a figure of some notoriety in certain circles. Most recently, he was hired to acquire certain information of use to a rebel group in the Empire. Unbeknownst to Bnach-Tarssski, the rebels in question were actually a front for the Imperial Intelligence Directorate and he barely escaped with his life. Being on the IID's hitlist made his line of work dramatically more dangerous and it wasn't long before he was picked up on a smuggling run and thrown into prison, where he met some very interesting fellows indeed. |
