AnadraskAnadrask ("New Drask") is the first and only colony of Drask, a vassal world of the Empire. It has a massive asteroid belt. There are no habitable planets in the system; the capital of the colony is Anadrask Station, a massive station which slowly orbits the belt, picking up cargo. Anadrask is an oligarchy ruled by a council of families. The balance of power has long been held by the Lasmira, Foorsi and Saravat, with smaller families trying to claw their way to the top at any cost. Owing to recent political developments, the Tarsnik family may have the leverage necessary to gain a considerable and lasting influence in the council. Anadrask's mines are a great source of wealth to Drask, and the system has been shielded from excessive Imperial interference by a friendly Draskan government. This cosy arrangement was in danger of shattering when evidence that the head families were engaged in massive fraud and embezzlement against Drask almost fell into the hands of Imperial agents. Anadrask was settled by a single Draskan nation, and as a result its population has a very homogenous appearance—dark skin, straight dark hair and blue eyes. Other phenotypes are indicative of galactic ancestry. Because space used to be at a premium on Anadrask Station, bulky and flashy objects are considered a sign of wealth and status. Anadraskans have little interest in compact electronics, which are seen as tacky and low-class. This makes local prosthetics very unwieldy, and has created a market for illicit Lizard implants. The mysterious disappearances of several vessels from a popular trade route were traced by the party to a large Hive mothership concealed above the plane of the system. The existence of this ship is not currently public knowledge, and its current health is unknown. |
