Second Lieutenant SmithYour family has always been in the navy. Your grandfather was actually the captain of a ship, so it was the most natural thing in the world for you to sign up as soon as you could. Your father, however, was not the shining example that his father was—he was a common drunk. You were determined to do better and make more of yourself. Of course you doubt that you will amount to anything—you will probably meet the same end as your father. You have worked hard, and have slowly felt the benefit of hard, honest work. You have been working as a messenger for the navy's high command. Only very few are trusted with this responsibility. You have a very important message to be delivered to HQ. You cannot give this message to anyone else to pass on, or they will not believe it—which will mean the deaths of thousands of men and women. The enemy has taken the port of Serras, and plans to use it to launch a major attack on the colonies. Unless reinforcements are sent immediately, they will probably win the war and many people will die. Mind you, they will most likely win anyway, and everyone dies eventually. But your duty is to deliver the message, no matter how futile it may ultimately be. Admiral Winchester commands with an iron fist, and is a great tactician but lacks any form of humanity. You try to stay out of Winchester's way. Lt Sheffield is the spoilt child of a noble—a complete waste of time and space. A very poor sailor, and not a much better person. AB Cooper has had a very hard life, but is trying to make a better one. Cooper has spent time in prison, and has the tattoos and scars to show for it. |
