Pendant of Shoo: The first of your family's stolen relics. It is an ancient storage device powered by the wearer's blood. A second person must ask the wearer questions. According to Ottar, it can be queried for information no matter who is wearing it, but it must be worn by a member of the family in order for new information to be put in. There is apparently a complicated way of switching between sections of its memory, but Ottar didn't know the details. He thought that an additional item was needed.
Nails of Klee-thee: Matching nail extensions which are put on by two people to seal a binding agreement. They must fulfil their ends of the bargain to remove their nails --otherwise the nails keep drinking their blood, possibly until they die.. You assume that they can be removed surgically, but you wouldn't want to experiment.
Crown of Littar: A hat which allows two people to exchange specific memories when it is worn by a third. Predictably, it also feeds on the wearer's blood. Your people's ancient technology is a little gruesome.
Last Jewel of Skaradsha: a mythical Chaxtrenian item which grants its owner great power. Renault apparently found it a year ago, and still hasn't showed it to anyone.

I've been sucked into the "sentences 6-8 from page 123 of your nearest book" blog meme by [url=http://gnomeza.livejournal.com/]Gnome[/url]. I feel so dirty. D:

Technically, the books closest to me are the obsolete computing-related doorstops on which my monitor is standing. I am going to ignore them, and the other doorstops and phonebooks on which Simon's monitor is standing, because a) lifting the monitors is hard, b) they are boring and c) they aren't Polish. Here, instead, is an excerpt from [i]Maska[/i] ([i]The Mask[/i]), a collection of novellas and plays by Stanisław Lem—it was on top of the pile of books next to my bed; bite me.

It's from a sub-story in a novella ([i]Edukacja Cyfrania[/i]; the story of the first frozen person) which was later republished as part of the Cyberiad, but apparently not in the English language version. I haven't read it since the last time I read the Cyberiad, and I don't remember it at all, but if the internet and the first page are to be believed it's about an enormous orchestra run by a musical country in space and is a veiled criticism of the communist government.

I'm not making this up.

I'm only going to tag [url=http://hodgestar.za.net/hstar/Site/AllRecentChanges]Hodgestar[/url], because I think everyone else has been tagged. And he can say no if he wants to; no pressure.

In other news, my l5r fanfiction plug from several months ago is on the first page of Google's search results for "l5r fanfiction" (no quotes). Which is not very helpful when [i]I'm[/i] the one looking for the l5r fanfiction. :/

Also, to recap: I played in Mike's Discworld LARP, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I went to most of SchpatCON, but didn't LARP because of lingering illness. Adeeb twisted my rubber arm and I bought [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vimanarama]Vimanarama[/url], which is pretty cool.
