Muggers On The Lawn

14 February 2006

After Twelfth Night on Saturday, a group of us decided to return to our place for coffee and perhaps further entertainments. We, unfortunately, were parked right at the back of the parking lot on the lake side of Maynardville and thus spent a good 15 minutes queuing before finally making it out the gate. Arriving home, Adrianna went to let in our guests only to find them in the process of being mugged on the lawn outside. We have also since learned that our new neighbour's car was broken into two days earlier. It seems the street outside our front door is not safe. If you are visiting us, please be careful. :( We are in the process of investing in an alarm system and possibly armed response.

In happier news, we spent Friday playing Get Out and Free Loader while our new neighbours were hosting a house-warming. They kindly sent us a note beforehand, stating that the noise would quieten down by 11:30. In reality, the party continued well past midnight, but this was a non-issue as at that point we'd only just moved on to Fluxx. A house warming which ended at 11:30 would have been something of a failure. Surreally, a flat-bed truck delivered a car to the street outside at around 2:00.

Sunday was spent fiddling with Sutekh and then later watching Howl's Moving Castle which was a really lovely story. Probably my second favourite Miyazaki, after Nausicaä.

Yesterday evening we walked up the somewhat burnt Lion's Head. We got started around 19:15 and eventually walked back in the dark with only the full moon and numerous lights strapped to other walkers' heads to guide us. We celebrate our return by ordering pizza from Diva's just before their kitchen closed.

I'll close of this entry some links:

  • The link Confluence sent me for Valentine's Day [1] :).
  • A rant about Disney's (we-pwn-mickey-for-all-eternity) blatant plagairism and copyright infringement of Kimba in the creation of The Lion King [2].
  • Studio Ghibli / Miyazaki's upcoming relase [3].
  • The awesome panoramic photo John took from the top of Lion's Head last night [4].
