IsThereSuchAThingAsTooMuchCodingIs There Such A Thing As Too Much Coding?16 April 2006 Friday evening and Saturday have been happily spent writing a computer game with Adrianna and Neil. It's still lacking a lot of things (shiny interface, most of the game logic) but all of the framework is looking pretty good (XMLRPC server and client for doing networking, synchronised random number generation for rolling dice, commandline interface for playing the game, configuration file handling, classes for numerous game objects). Work was been a bit nuts, with preparations for the demo on Tuesday leading to around 200 commits to CVS over a period of two days. Last night the hackathon head off to the St Peter's Square Spur for late night food. It was a throughly disappointing experience. The salad bar was limp, the "two cooked veg" placed the emphasis on "cooked" and generally my meal sucked. Afterwards we stopped by Steve and Janets farewell do at Cafe Carte Blanche which seemed to be going great guns and wiped out the lingering Spur miasma. |
