RankThe Warrior caste uses standard naval ranks. As in many navies, "Captain" is a title granted to an officer in command of a ship, regardless of his or her actual rank. Captains can be Ordinary Captains or Star Captains—this determines whether their jurisdiction extends outside the star system where they are officially stationed. All Admirals have cross-system jurisdiction. The Tribe mostly makes up ranks as it goes along. Its military forces are generally not structured enough to sustain a chain of command longer than two or three links. |
